Amazon which can be considered the leaders in distribution of video games through their e commerce portal has announced a unique partnership with the leaders of the 3D printing industry to offer a unique option to these gamers. Today Amazon announced a strategic partnership with 3D Systems and Sandboxr to provide customize 3D printed collectibles and have your favorite Game character shipped directly to your door.
As we have mentioned you would be able to customize your game collectibles from Amazon and to do that you would get a “Personalize Now”widget. The Widget would use Sandboxr's custom 3D printing platform which allows you to
Sandboxr's custom Character building platform shows instant results in a 360 degree view for the customized options selected by you. Once you have customized your hero you could order the same trough Amazon. Your customized collectible would be then 3D printed in sandstone with photo-realistic colors.The Characters from Infinity Blade alone, give you more than 12 million different choices to select from.
The customize feature is live on Amazon and you get the options to choose Characters from games like Smite, Primal Carnage and Infinity Blade. As of today there are 35 characters that are available but whats notable is that Sandboxr is the 3D printing partner of Hi-Rez Studios, WarGaming.net, Epic Games, ChAIR Entertainment, Lionsgate Entertainment, Summit Entertainment, SuperVillian Studios and more so we can expect a lot more options being added pretty soon. These custom figurines cost between anywhere between $29.9 to $89.99 depending on the size you have selected.

These characters would be 3D printed using ProJet x60 series printers from 3D Systems, which would be a great boost for the company’s sales. Talking about this Joint venture Cathy Lewis, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, 3D Systems said “We are incredibly excited to partner with Sandboxr and Amazon to enable gamers everywhere to bring their characters to life with stunning, fully-customizable 3D prints. Sandboxr’s digital customization and fulfillment model is a perfect example of how our technology integrates into and enhances existing products and experiences, and we believe that their innovative and scalable video game platform will drive further awareness and adoption of 3D printing.”
With this new partnership Amazon makes it clear that it’s not going to be a mute spectator and is ready to accept and promote 3D printing technology.
