Amazing starter printer. It has a small-ish build volume, but that's easily doubled with an upgrade from their website. It's been able to handle the prints I wanted to make and given me a great chance to learn more about 3D printing without investing $2000 for one of the fancier "starter printers".

I had already owned a Printrbot Metal Simple and needed a second printer for another location. Being familiar with the adjustments and variables needed to be worked, it was easy to dial it in and I had excellent quality prints in a half hour. I am most impressed with the build quality of this device. This thing is built like a rock and the quality is quite impressive. A great first or second printer. Kudos to the Printrbot team.

This is a great little printer. Everything about it Is well made. The print quality rivals printers double its price. As long as you dont mind the small print space(4x4x5), than this is definitely a printer to buy.

The bot is great. I'm pretty new to 3D printing, and this model made entrance into that seemingly daunting realm quite painless.

Very glad I bought the assembled version.

Pros:

Very accurate. 50 microns is 0.05 mm. That's 1/20th of a millimeter, or 1/200th of a cm. Small.

Small footprint. ~20cm x ~8cm.

Cons:

Not the fastest machine. I'm printing at 40mm/s consistently, at 0.1 mm layer height, and prints turn out beautifully. For 0.05mm I turn the speed down to 20mm/s, so the print takes *forever* but the results are astounding.

Should you buy it?

This is an American-made product, and it definitely feels like it. Works great, very solid construction. I highly recomend the y-axis upgrade, as it makes the price-per-cubic-cm lower than the Printrbot Simple Metal.
